Monday TV Ratings: House Finale Strong, Two and a Half Men/Big Bang Theory Win

Last night was a sweeps night which was once again dominated by CBS and the season finale of House

Dancing with the Stars continued its impressive numbers this week, posting an average 4.2 rating and just over 19 million viewers to win the night for ABC. At 10, Castle was second behind CSI: Miami with a 2.4 rating and just over 10 million viewers.

Brothers and Sisters Renewed for a Fifth Season!

The show – which is losing Rob Lowe at the end of this season – is due to return in Fall 2010 with a 22 episode fifth season

Via THR:

ABC has renewed “Brothers & Sisters” for a fifth season. The Sally Field soap opera has had, I think, five show runners in four seasons. Maybe they can somehow get back to the show’s basic premise, from which it has seriously drifted, next fall …

Accidentally on Purpose Cancelled?

Although this show has performed relatively well in the post HIMYM timeslot, it still hasn’t proven itself worthy of renewal. The show is moving to the post- New Adventures of Old Christine timeslot later in the month.

The Jenna Elfman vehicle has not been able to hold onto its solid HIMYM lead in thus far, averaging under a 3.0 18-49 rating and just over 8 million viewers. Rules of Engagement – which replaced AoP has held onto the key demo (18-49) much more convincingly, and even grew in viewers from its premiere to the third week.

Chances of renewal: Slim.

The Cleveland Show Cancelled?

Another of Seth MacFarlane’s shows, Cleveland was given a nice timeslot (post Simpsons) and was also given plenty of promotion. I liked the shows premise, although some episodes fall flat sometimes.

The show has averaged a solid 2.7 (18-49) rating so far this season and just over 6.5 million viewers. It was given an early renewal by FOX because it needs time for the animation

Already renewed by FOX.

Family Guy Cancelled?

Nope. This show is too strong among adults (18-49 & 18-34) to be cancelled. The show is also one of the top 25 shows in syndication, which is another reason why it isn’t going anywhere. It will be around for many years to come.

It has been averaging a 3.4 (18-49) rating and just over 7 million viewers so far this season, and is the top animated performer on television.

Already renewed by FOX

Cold Case Cancelled?

Absolutely. Listen, I’m all for the underdog fight – and god, it has been – but this show hasn’t got a chance of being renewed. It is already in syndication, the ratings have fallen to just an average 2.0 (18-49) rating and there are a whole host of shows lined up to replace it.

Just believe that you were lucky enough to get this final season.

My guess: canceled.

Undercover Boss Cancelled?

Not even close. This show has quickly become one of the eye’s best performers since debuting after the Super Bowl, averaging a solid 4.5 18-49 rating. This makes it the #3 show across all nights for CBS, outperforming many of their veteran shows.

Already renewed.

The Extreme Makover: Home Edition finale took second for ABC, posting a 2.8 rating and just over 9.3 million viewers. The Simpsons and The Cleveland Show were just third for FOX, averaging a solid 2.8 rating and just over 6 million viewers. NBC was fourth and last with the 2010 Miss USA Pageant, which posted a 1.5 rating and 5 million viewers.

At 9, Survivor continued to dominate on CBS – with stiffer competition – averaging a 4.4 rating and just over 13.6 million viewers. Medium Cancelled?

This show was resurrected last season by CBS, who figured that it would work perfectly with Ghost Whisperer on Friday nights. They were right. The show is averaging a 1.7 18-49 rating and is the second highest rated show of the night. Is that good enough for renewal?

My guess: renewed.

The Mentalist Cancelled?

Last week they pulled the ol’ switcheroo, moving The Mentalist to 9/8c and CSI to 10/9c. This did not work out well for either show.

On the plus side though, the show has been performing relatively well this season, averaging a 3.3 18-49 rating and just over 13 million viewers, not too bad considering the weakening of CSI.

My guess: renewed.
