Matthew Perry is developing a comedy about a guy who’s staring down midlife and not liking what he sees. Along with it being a starring vehicle for him, he will also co-write the script.
Former Family Guy and Til Death writers Alex Barnow and Mark Firek, will write the script with Perry and serve as exec producers. As will director Thomas Schlamme (“Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” “The West Wing”) who has worked with Perry on both Studio 60 and West Wing.
Perry will play the manager of a sports arena who starts to reconsider his life when he turns 40 (Perry passed that milestone himself earlier this year). The project, which Sony Pictures TV is producing, is making the network rounds this week.
Perry’s most notable role was playing ‘Chandler’ in the hit NBC series ‘Friends’ and was also lead actor on Studio 60. He also starred in the features “17 Again”, ”The Whole Nine Yards”.
