CSI: NY Cancelled?

Ah, the second most hated of the CSI’s. I say second most because I’m pretty sure that most people who’ve tried to watch the Miami spinoff have hated David Caruso, or was that just me?

The show has performed as well as its sister show, the original CSI this season, averaging a 3.4 rating and a solid 12 million viewers. This leads me to believe that it has a solid chance of renewal.

Criminal Minds Cancelled?

Although never really returning to pre Mandy Patinkin leaving numbers, this show is still among the top 5 scripted performers for CBS and also sells very well in syndication.

The show has averaged a solid 3.5 adults 18-49 rating this season which is better than the CSI’s and The Mentalist which surely makes it a shoe-in for renewal.

Castle Renewed for a Third Season!

ABC has confirmed that sophomore drama, Castle, has been renewed for a 22 episode third season.

Via EW:

The Nathan Fillion-Stana Katic mystery-comedy has been on an upswing this season, with ratings surging double digits over season 2. Last night’s episode — the conclusion of the two-part Dana Delany event — attracted the show’s largest audience to date (14.5 million viewers) and gave ABC its best scripted performance in the time-slot in 14 years.

Parks and Recreation Cancelled?

I will be the first to admit that this show got off to a very slow start last season. It was too like the office and Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope was too like Steve Carell’s Michael Scott. However, just like the office it needed a second season to be able to perform to the best of its ability.

On the ratings side it has not been as good. The show has averaged just a 1.9 (18-49) rating and just under 5 million viewers. While that isn’t great, I do believe that given the post- Office slot it would perform much better. Luckily for us, there could still be a chance of that happening.

Already renewed by NBC.

The Good Wife Renewed for a Second Season

CBS has announced that The Good Wife – a drama on CBS that I actually enjoy – has been renewed for a second season.  I really like this show. I like the casting (which is great), the stories and even the timeslot (which I think is perfect)

Although the ratings haven’t been particularly strong for the Julianna Marguiles starrer, the show is producing a solid 2.8 (18-49) rating and just over 12 million – solid for a new 10pm show.

The Vampire Diaries Renewed for a Second Season

Well, as this is the only show which is really pulling its weight on the CW, what would you expect. Apparently the only way that these mini- networks can create a hit is by enlisting the help of one man – Kevin Williamson (Scream I – III, Dawson’s Creek).

The show has averaged an excellent (by the CW’s standards) 1.5 (18-49) rating and just over 3.8 million viewers so far this season to make it the networks #1 show.

Smallville Renewed for a Tenth Season

The CW has announced that Smallville – which it assumed would fail on Friday nights – has been picked up for a 22 episode tenth season. The pick-up depending mostly on the ratings (which have been OK this season – especially for Friday nights) and the willingness of the cast (OK, Tom Welling and Allison Mack) to sign on for another year.

The show has averaged a 1.0 (18-49) rating and just under 2.8 million viewers thus far this season. While that is OK, it is still down from last season.

Gossip Girl Renewed for a Fourth Season!

The CW has announced that Gossip Girl has indeed been picked up for a 22 episode fourth season. The show – which seems to create more headlines than actual ratings – has seen a downturn in viewership this season and one of the cast members is supposedly leaving at the end of the season to chase other opportunities.

The show has averaged a 1.0 (18-49) rating and just under 2 million viewers thus far this season. While that is OK, it is still down from last season.

How I Met Your Mother Renewed for a Sixth Season

Ready to meet ‘The Mother’? Yeah me too.

I know that the show will be pretty much over when the Mother finally does show herself, but I think it’s about time for that too happen. I don’t know how those kids have managed to stay so patient while listening to their dad, Ted, for so long.

The show has averaged a solid 3.5 (18-49) rating and just over 9 million viewers so far this season, starting off CBS’ Monday night comedy line-up to good effect.

Remember back in seasons 1 & 2 when we were worried about this show being cancelled?

The Middle Renewed for a Second Season

The Middle couldn’t have had a worse start. It had a lame duck as a lead-in (Kelsey Grammer’s Hank) but still managed to get the green light for a second season.

The show – which stars Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond) and Neil Flynn (Scrubs’ Janitor) is a solid performer for the alphabet, averaging a 2.2 (18-49) rating and just over 6 million viewers – which isn’t too bad considering that it’s had reruns as a lead-in for the past 10 episodes.

Hopefully it’ll be moved to a better timeslot next season, preferably after Modern Family (hopefully) moves to 8pm next season.
