Ryan Devlin To Visit Cougar Town

Ryan Devlin (“Veronica Mars,” “Big Shots”) has joined ABC freshman hit, Cougar Town.

He will have a recurring part on the ABC comedy later this season playing a love interest for Laurie (Busy Philipps), not as oft criticized/never seen Dale, but a new character will be named Smith.

The show has just gone back into production after a short break so that Courtney Cox could deal with a family issue.

Devlin’s arc will begin airing early next year.

Minnie Driver Guesting on Modern Family

I was just thinking to myself, “how can Modern Family get any better?” the answer? Enlist the help of English actress, Minnie Driver.

The Riches actress, has been cast in an upcoming episode of the freshman comedy, playing a former co-worker and friend to Julie Bowen’s Claire. The two re-connect after losing touch and things aren’t exactly how they used to be.

Christine Baranski Returning To The Big Bang Theory

This just in: Christine Baranski is returning to CBS hit #1 comedy, The Big Bang Theory!

Baranski will reprise her role as Leonards know-it-all mother who connects a lot more with Sheldon than her own son.

Although no deets have been released, I’d just like to say that there were definitely sparks between her and Sheldon when she last guested. Perhaps that’s the reason she’s coming back?!

CBS Orders More ‘Accidentally On Purpose’

Unsurprisingly, CBS has ordered another 5 episodes of Jenna Elfman starring vehicle, Accidentally on Purpose. This brings the season total (so far) to 18.

The freshman comedy has performed quite well in its 8.30 timeslot, averaging a 3.0 adults 18-49 rating and just under 8 million viewers so far behind How I Met Your Mother. It also just posted its best total in viewers and adults 18-34 since its premiere in September.

If it continues performing in the same way thru the middle of the season I’d expect it to reach a full 22 episode season.

Sherlock Holmes Rescues Seth MacFarlane’s Variety Show

Sherlock Holmes is the new sponsor of Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borsteins ” The Almost Live Comedy Show”, which is set to air on FOX Sunday, Nov. 8 at 8:30 p.m.

Microsoft recently pulled out of its partnership with Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein due to the special having content that does not “fit with the Windows brand,”

The “Almost Live Comedy Show” was announced earlier this month as part of a major marketing partnership Microsoft had sealed with a wide range of News Corp. properties to promote the launch of the computer giant’s new Windows 7 operating system,

But, upon viewing a rough cut of the show, Microsoft ended the partnership due to the special’s content (which is no different to Family Guy’s).

Scott Foley Moves To ‘Cougar Town’

Someone more age appropriate is heading to Courteney Cox’s neighbourhood – Scott Foley (The Unit, Felicity, Scrubs).

It really doesn’t take much investigative work to figure out how this happened… Foley was Sean, Elliott’s bf on Scrubs. The creator of Scrubs is Bill Lawrence. The Co-creator of Cougar Town is…….Bill Lawrence. And for those noobs who don’t already know, Lawrence is real-life married to Cougar Town and Scrubs actress, Christa Miller.

A good casting? I think so. Foley does comedy well and is the right amount of goofy for Cougar Town. Good times….

Nick Zano To Melrose Place?

According to EW’s Michael Ausiello, Nick Zano is relocating from Cougar Town to Melrose Place in the near future as a replacement for recently let-go actor Colin Egglesfield.

What does this mean for Cougar Town? Nothing really as Zano has just finished filming his stint as Courteney Cox’s prey on the ABC freshman comedy hit.

Zano would be playing a doctor who works with Lauren (Stephanie Jacobsen) and Michael (Thomas Calabro) at Wilshire Memorial. In an interview last week, executive producer Todd Slavkin described the character as “irreverent and funny… He will move into the [apartment] building. He doesn’t take life very seriously. Medicine can be very fun as well as serious to him, and he ends up lightening up Lauren.”

Microsoft Pulls Out of MacFarlane Special

Microsoft has pulled out of its partnership with Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein due to the special having content that does not “fit with the Windows brand,”

via variety.com

“Almost Live Comedy Show” was announced earlier this month as part of a major marketing partnership Microsoft had sealed with a wide range of News Corp. properties to promote the launch of the computer giant’s new Windows 7 operating system. Exec producers include event specials vet Ken Ehrlich.

But that was before Microsoft execs attended the special’s taping on Oct. 16. The special included MacFarlane and Alex Borstein – the voice of “Family Guy” matriarch Lois – pitching Windows 7.

For most of the special, however, MacFarlane and Borstein made typical “Family Guy” style jokes, including riffs on deaf people, the Holocaust, feminine hygiene and incest.

That apparently was a bit too much for Microsoft.

“We initially chose to participate in the Seth and Alex variety show based on the audience composition and creative humor of ‘Family Guy,’ but after reviewing an early version of the variety show it became clear that the content was not a fit with the Windows brand,” said a Microsoft spokesperson.
