Thursday TV Ratings: CBS Wins, SNL: A Very Gilly Christmas Strong

FOX, ABC and CW were all in reruns last night, which left it to CBS to win the night.

In Brief:

Survivor: Samoa (4.0), CSI (3.4) and The Mentalist (3.5) dominated the night for CBS.

SNL: A Very Gilly Christmas gave NBC its best Thursday average for a while (3.1) while Jay Leno was solid (1.7).

Thursday TV Ratings: The Office/ Private Practice Win, FlashForward Hits Series Lows

A 9pm without Grey’s Anatomy and with a CSI rerun saw The Office take advantage to be the highest rated show of the night in the key adult demo.

Overall, CBS won the night with Survivor Samoa having the best hour of the night (3.9 A18-49) and CSI (2.3) & The Mentalist (2.6) posting solid numbers for reruns. ABC was second for the night with FlashForward posting season lows in the key demo (2.2) and viewers (7.3 million). At 9, there was no Grey’s Anatomy but a double Private Practice, which posted a 3.3 rating and 9.5 million viewers.

FOX was third last night with a brand new Bones at 8, which drew just under 10 million viewers and a 2.9 rating. Against lesser competition Fringe bounced back from its last original airings 2.0 rating to a 2.5, proving to FOX that it isn’t the creative direction of the show, it’s the timeslot. NBC was fourth for the night even though Community and Parks & Recreation were up vs. last week, averaging a 2.2 rating. At 9, The Office was the top rated show of the night posting a 4.1 rating, followed by a solid ep of 30 Rock (3.0)

The CW was in repeats with The Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl averaging a 0.7 rating and just under 2 million viewers.

Thursday TV Ratings: World Series Game 2 Wins, FlashForward Falls

On a night which saw the Yankees draw even with the Phillies by winning game 2 of the series, it was FOX which won its first Thursday of the season.

FOX once again was number 1 for the whole of primetime with a 5.8 rating and just under 19 million viewers.

At 8pm, Survivor Samoa started the night for CBS in second place, pulling in a 3.7 rating and 12.5 million viewers, down vs last week. FlashForward dropped to a series low for ABC, pulling just a 2.7 rating and 9 million viewers on its 6th outing. Fourth placed was NBC’s combination of Community and Parks and Recreation with a 2.1 rating for each and an average 5.2 million viewers. The Vampire Diaries was last for The CW, but still pulled a 2.0 rating A18-49, a 2.3 A18-34 and just over 4 million viewers for the minnows.

9pm saw Grey’s Anatomy take second for ABC, down slightly from last week to a 5.1 rating and just over 13 million viewers.. The Office was even with last weeks 4.2 rating (8 million viewers) and 30 Rock (6 million viewers) was down .2 to take third for NBC. CSI was also down a tick vs. last week to take fourth for CBS with a 3.4 rating and just over 15 million viewers. The CW ended its night in last place with Supernatural, drawing a 1.3 rating.

At 10, Private Practice kept ABC in second, drawing a 3.6 rating and beating out The Mentalist which drew a 3.5 (even with last week). Leno came fourth with a 1.6 to end the night for NBC.

Thursday TV Ratings: NBC Up, ABC Steady – FlashForward Down, 30 Rock/Parks/Office Up

ABC continued their Thursday ratings streak, with Grey’s Anatomy winning it’s hour and Private Practice and FlashForward performing steadily with roughly the same ratings as last week.

At 8, Survivor Samoa won the hour with a 4.0 rating, up from last week. On FOX, the baseball coverage pulled a 3.1 rating and 10.3 million viewers to take second place for the hour. ABC went with a new FlashForward, pulling a series low 3.0 rating and 9.8 million viewers. Community drew 5 million viewers and a 1.9 rating, also a series low. In NBC’s second half hour, Parks and Recreation pulled a 2.1 rating, up a tick from last week. The Vampire Diaries was in repeats this week but still garnered a 0.9 rating and over 2 million viewers, which is still better than the new Melrose Place that pulled a 0.7 earlier this week.

At 9, Grey’s Anatomy took control for ABC, pulling a 4.9 rating and 14.5 million viewers which was up vs. last week. The NBC team of The Office (4.2) and 30 Rock (3.2) was up this week, taking second for the hour. FOX’s baseball coverage took third with a 2.9 and 9.5 million viewers for the hour. In 4th place was a CSI repeat which drew a 2.1 rating and 10 million viewers. The CW went with a Supernatural repeat which gave them last place and a 0.9 rating.

Fox won the 10pm hour with their baseball coverage, with their strongest hour of the night, a 3.8 and just over 11 million viewers. Private Practice kept the ball rolling for ABC, pulling a 3.7 and 10 million viewers, roughly the same as last week. On CBS, The Mentalist drew a 2.7 rating in repeats, building on it’s lead in by roughly 25% . The Jay Leno show took last with a 1.6 rating.

Thursday TV Ratings: 30 Rock/Bones Down, Vampire Diaries Up

On a night where 30 Rock made its return, it was ABC which took the night with an average of a 4.0 A18-49. CBS took the viewership crown by a margin of over 2 million. Fox and NBC shared 3rd with a 2.4 A18-49 rating with Fox bringing in more viewers and NBC bringing in more A18-34. Over on the CW, Vampire Diaries hit series highs among A18-49 (1.9) and A18-34.

The season 4 premiere of 30 Rock drew a 3.0 rating for adults 18-49, down over a quarter from last years premiere. Elsewhere for NBC, Parks & Recreation and Community both drew a 2.0 rating, level with last week. The Office was down over last weeks hour-long special and Jay Leno brought in a 1.7 for the peacock.

ABC’s lineup of FlashForward, Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice was level with last week, although FlashForward and Private Practice were up marginally and Grey’s was down.

Over on Fox, Bones pulled a 2.7 A18-49 rating, slightly down from last week. To round out the night Fringe pulled a 2.2 which was level with it’s performance last week

Survivor: Samoa pulled a 3.6 rating, level with last week on the eye network. At 9, CSI was also pretty flat in comparison. At 10, The Mentalist was up a tick to 3.5.

Vampire Diaries hit series highs for the CW in both adults 18-49 and 18-34.  At 9, Supernatural was flat with last week bringing in a 1.2.
